Surfshark has evolved from a budget alternative into a legitimate powerhouse. The merger with Nord Security in 2022 brought shared infrastructure and security expertise, and it shows. Surfshark now operates 3,200+ RAM-only servers across 100 countries, all running on 10Gbps+ ports for maximum throughput.
The feature set is remarkable for the price. CleanWeb 2.0 blocks ads and trackers at the DNS level, cutting page load times while protecting privacy. Dynamic MultiHop lets you route traffic through two servers, and the rotating IP feature changes your IP address every 5-10 minutes without disconnecting — ideal for web scraping and privacy-maximal use cases.
Speed test results are strong on popular servers but show inconsistency on less common locations. We saw excellent speeds on US, UK, and Japan servers (8-15% drop), but connections to some South American and African servers showed 25-30% speed loss. For most users connecting to nearby servers, this won't be an issue.
